Inshore fishing consists of striped bass, bluefish, false albacore and bonito. Striped bass fishing begins in mid-May when the big fish have finished spawning and travel north into our waters. This fishing is close to shore and a short run from the dock at Barnstable Harbor allows maximum fishing time within the shelter of the Habor. Fishing is primarily done with topwater lures and soft-plastic baits such as Sluggos. These fish can also be caught using a variety of flies tied to look like baitfish and squid, which are the primary forage during the Spring. Fish can run anywhere from 10 to 30 pounds with occasional 40-pound fish in the mix. The inshore bass fishing can be good until mid-july when the water warms up and the fsh move out, but May and June are the prime months.

Fishing for bonito and false albacore is a late-summer event. The bonito usually arrive first, around the end of July. Slam Dance Charters moves our operations to Nantucket for a few weeks to catch the first push of bonito along the southwest corner of the Island. Come join us for some of this exciting fly rod and light tackle bonito action!
